Digital Photography 101

Using Your
ÒPoint and ShootÓ Digital Camera
This class is designed for users of small digital cameras that do not have interchangeable lenses. The class will teach you to make better photographs of people, landscapes and objects. We will cover the use of automatic settings, the built-in flash, and how to use special camera settings for portraits, sports and outdoor scenes. The class will teach you how the digital camera functions – and how to prepare images for computer use or printing.

Using
Your Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera (DSLR)
This class is designed for users of digital cameras that have interchangeable lenses – such as the Canon Digital Rebel, Nikon D-40, Nikon D300, or similar cameras from Olympus, Pentax, etc. Topics will include: shooting in RAW, 8 bit vs.16 bit imaging, choosing the proper ISO level, setting the white balance, working with shutter or aperture priority, understanding and interpreting histograms, working with external flash units, and more. The class will teach you how the digital camera functions – and how to prepare images for computer use or printing.

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Working with Images on Your Computer
This class is designed to give you hands-on experience working with digital images on a computer. Each student will use a computer (Macs and PCs) to enhance and modify images, using tools for cropping, cloning and improving brightness, contrast and color. The class will address issues of image size, resolution and preparation for emailing and for adding to web pages. Prerequisite: Digital Photography 101A or 101B.

Printing digital images – at home and in your business
This class will provide hands-on training in image preparation for printing, setting up a digital printer, and working with profiles to obtain the best image prints. Each student will work on a computer to make digital prints with Epson pigment-ink printers.
Prerequisite: Digital Photography 201.
Digital Photography 401 (2

Advanced Techniques for working with computer images.
This class will provide hands-on training for using layers,merging images, and using other advanced techniques available with Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Prerequisite: Digital Photography 201.
